This was before you got fat, but
You were always afraid.

You jumped right onto the furniture.
You made me feel more mature.
There were paint spots on your fur, and
Then you made orange.

Why did you run in your sleep?
You should've been at the heels of sheep.

If the tears made you more afraid
Of the sun coming through the shade,
Or the choice we had to make,
I'll pick the sand from your eyes.

I wept with the false acceptance of a boy.
There must be feelings that we put away
When something takes its place.
