I Like to Dance

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8:
I like to dance.
Let's go out tonight for some expensive fun.
Everybody seems to know that I like to dance
With girls like you who don't even know which way the wind blows.
Come on, and watch me dance.
Watch me dance.
I'm twirling!
Watch me dance, I said.
Let's have some expensive food
At a restaurant I don't even like.
You've got some food on your chin-
Don't be embarrassed; i'll just create a distraction-
By dancing.

Help Me From the Woods

Looking for you will never cross my mind.
There's nothing I want to say or do to you, but
Once in awhile I try and justify the damage
When I'm on the train I conceal myself from possibility.
I wonder why I loved you.
I am trying to say that
A compass did not help me from the woods.
There's a cigarette burn on my left hand.
Please let me get on with my life, with the woman I love.
You know she makes you look like dirt.

Rearranging possessions.
(incoherent)
Inching my wooden chair slowly from the corner to the window.

On the day to one year exact you walked into the kitchen.
This was before you got fat, but
You were always afraid.
You jumped right onto the furniture.
You made me feel more mature.
There were paint spots on your fur, and
Then you made orange.
Why did you run in your sleep?
You should've been at the heels of sheep.
If the tears made you more afraid
Of the sun coming through the shade,
Or the choice we had to make,
I'll pick the sand from your eyes.
I wept with the false acceptance of a boy.
There must be feelings that we put away
When something takes its place.
I am sorry for the nervous nights;
I am sorry I was not your size;
But I'm sorry most for your surprise.
You had a happy life.

Story
01:55
|
|

Basil Spring is paranoid.
After his father had run away from his mother,
He was ashamed that at age 9 or 10
He should be sleeping with his mother.
Later he quit several jobs- (incoherent) -
There they were saying he was going crazy.
They laughed at him.
"It won't be long now", they said.
It was a girl. the girl in the salvation army hostel.
Never seen that on a page before.
Who told them?
She was after him to marry him.
Down south she followed him 500 miles,
When he moved east 400 more he saw her on the streetcar and
Talking in the street behind him sure he was going crazy.
He's gonna lose his air first and then he's gonna go crazy.

Predictions of Autumn
06:07
|
|
||
Waiting again.
The curtains stir
Inconsolable light parts the dust.
You drag yourself around like a crippled dog.
Days spent
Making your tragedy.
Light stirs her
She'll be your tragedy.
I read your name in the papers
On the lips of mutual friends
Whose newfound friendship
Brings glory to their pre-dawn wars
And sunsets emanating predictions of autumn.
Waiting again.
You were her reason to feel tragic.

The Captain and the Wind
03:08
|
|
||
I set sail for the treasure in the autumn of my youth.
It was different from previous voyages, because I actually
Found a treasure.
The storm came and the wind blew.
The wind blew.
I was my Captain.
I was my ship-hand.
I didn't figure I needed a hand with anything.
So when the storm sunk my ship i cried.
All I can tell you is beware when the wind blows.
When the wind begins to blow.
When it blows.
When the wind blows.
When the wind blows.
When the wind blows.
When it blows.
When the wind blows.
