La la la. La la la la la. La la la la la la. La la la. la la la la, la la la.

Oh I would like to tell you a story if you would like to hear one! It is just one moment of your time. A bird was shot and he fell to the ground, but he did not cry at all. He had no children of his own And he did not mind getting cooked for dinner alone. Help me sleep tonight. I can't help but wish upon a star, eagerly. Will someone come and sing to me? They plucked his feathers and used his beak as a ladle. He could not help but think back to one special moment in time. Help me sleep tonight. I can't help but wish upon a star, eagerly. Will someone come and sing to me? Help me sleep tonight.
3.
My dear you've gone to sleep With one eyelid twitching, like dolphins do. How high the moon? No deeper than the grave. Any man can tell - There's a pebble in every pair of shoes. Little dreams can keep you from noticing I'm gone. The smaller the dream, The more you can't help feeling what you know inside. Time's faults are not yours. You know the snow will fall from tear ducts When you can't let yours go, my dear. Little dreams can keep you from noticing I'm gone. The smaller the dream, The more you can't help feeling what you know inside. Little dreams can keep you here.

And when I woke the leaves were orange And the green grass had died. The branches wound up The jack-in-the-box sun or the moon or whatever you see anytime. Anyway, her head fell with the leaves- Unfastened, like the clapper of a bell. Skyline met with beds to burrow under the hills- around or over or however it was any way, anywhere, any time, any place that you choose. Open the door and let it fly out the window, into the stream any way, anywhere that you choose. She laughs in a way that sends the lemmings from the cliff. There's murder in her smile but no one seems to mind. But now's the time To hide all your children in the ribcage of a dead dog, Or whatever you choose to do. Anything, any time that you choose. Open the door and let it fly out the window, into the stream Any way, anywhere, any thought, any song, Anything any time that you choose.
5.
There's a look in her eyes that makes me want to go away from here. Was it the way that we danced so near? Someday I'll find my dear. I'd walk on coals for just one more kiss. I'm in a ribcage shaking hands with all the kangaroo mothers. Was it the way that we danced all night? Someday I'll find Isabelle and make her my wife.
6.
If stories were similar the story could tell You can tell the similars from two different shelves. Come out to the valley and roll up the hill. You dance like a dog in May when the hydrants are out of range. Here is a paper that cuts like a knife. If you're foolish to think so for all of your life, You can make indecision a decision of your own. No one is listening to the out of tune band. No one is dreaming out loud. Our boys drop their pants at the table again. I'm not sure what to say when they're physically grown men. Come out to the valley and roll up the hill. You dance like a dog in May when the hydrants are out of range. No one is dreaming ouuuuuuuuuu- no one is dreaming out loud.
7.
Tuesday without her has not been bad. A blue fish swims into the glass and he won't let up, even if he can. Tar and feather my dreams in ice and keep them safe from me. If your plane sees a white ukulele Won't you wave to me and have a good time in Hawaii? Sleep will blossom singing bears That will shed in rhythm everywhere. On the roof of a hat you'll find me out In the cold confetti, falling down. All these thoughts I have of you Must be written down and used when you go to Hawaii. Summer will rescue winter this time. The trees will go crying petals again And we'll both know how they'll land. And then sleep will blossom singing bears That will shed in rhythm everywhere. All these thoughts I have of you Must be written down and used in some way or another When you go to Hawaii.

Leaf & Tree 02:08
Everything you touch with your hand turns from flower, Into sand, to man and Leaf and tree and dreams of dreams. There is nothing left to fear- Only in his eyes there are tears. He's been placing rocks in a circle there. When the evening comes he'll set them down and Go to sleep pretending you're around With your leaf and tree and dreams of dreams and Nothing left to fear. Will the well keep pennies down at night? Must the children go swim at high tide? When the evening comes he'll write this down For the air, that whispers you're around With your leaf and tree and dreams of dreams.

One Way 03:29
There's only one way out of this dream. Don't say I didn't warn you. Once there was a child and he cried "wolf!" but no one cried for him. Believe me when I say: If honestly washes up on the shore I'll burn the bridge before it's built. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here. If the bird forgot his song would you know the difference From the perch at the computer you own? Would you pick up the phone And ask Con-Ed to turn on the power and Standby to watch his feathers go up in flames? No one would cry for him!- you know as well as me- And though you might find it hard to believe, Believe me when I say: If honesty washes up on the shore I'll burn the bridge before it's built. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here. I'm being honest here.

My darling, my dear- I'm in the sand making castles. If you never get my letter you'll find me in the rain, making puddles. Why not meet me in the ballroom at midnight? We can start anew and dance until it's light. Meet me in the ballroom at midnight- There's really no reason to decline. We can start anew and dance until it's light.
11.
In the rear-view there's a woman in a lawn chair That ties the car together and is closer than she appears. When it comes to that time you might be afraid. You're mother is waiting with an ocean shell to her ear. At first sight she looks like a cat from the rain That's stayed up every night to make amends And take precaution when she needs to, Or has to, or can't move, or counts sheep for too long. She's the car on your ass that will always be with you. When it comes to that time you might be afraid. Your mother is waiting with an ocean shell to her ear.
12.
Although I may be sleeping under a tattered cloud I'll laugh my head off all the way and my body won't fall down!- As the wagons come over the hill and back again. Please don't try and wake me. Please don't wake me now. All of her teeth get broken with the setting sun. Leaves come knocking at her door with No place left to run. Won't the wagons come over the hill and back again? Please don't wake me now. Please don't wake me up. Let the wagons come over the hill and back again. Please don't try and wake me. Please don't wake me now. Please don't wake me up- Please don't try and wake me now.
13.
I cannot seem to change in the arms of a river or In the arms of a woman or the moon. I won't behave. Why can't the channel change? In my heart lay a parenting flower that will bloom. My belly's yellow. You don't look up but make it up. You make it up. You make it up until you know There's nothing left to make up. I cannot seem to breathe in this hallway near a river or up late alone. You make it up, you make it up, you make it up, you make it up.

Four Hours 13:46
Long ago in my mouth people stood but made no sound. Now horse heads hit the tabletop and roll around. Ooo... In my hat slept crushed flies that smelled of you. I don't know why your nails choke the vertebrae under my clothes. Ooo... "It's amazing how you spend most of your time figuring out how to spend your time!", I hear eyes blinking back. Help me up! My legs can't move that fast.

"'2/3 Skeleton' demonstrates Carbone's ability to abandon the self absorbent path of the typical singer/songwriter and, like Leonard Cohen or Bill Callahan, take his listeners to another place altogether- allowing them to interpret the music in a way that is personally relevant to each individual." - Bart Ford, Under the Mooch Records (Tulsa OK)
